StepGen 4.0.x

•	SOLVED: When the project tree does not have the focus, the text was drawn in a black colour, making the tree node unreadable under the default theme of Vista (which draws unfocused background in a black colour, making the node drawn in black on black).

•	SOLVED [tracker 1661] Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V and Ctrl-X to copy/cut/paste pages in the project tree now only work when the tree has the focus (making the same actions and keys available to copy/cut/paste text in the page description fields).

SOLVED [tracker 1389, 714] As soon as the 'Save' button is clicked underneath the page properties edit fields, the values are now immediately saved to disk. Previous version save these values as soon as another tree page was clicked - if a build was started before choosing a new page in the project tree, it sometimes was possible that the newly edited page properties were not used during the build.

•	CHANGED: 'View current Page' (Ctrl-F8) will now build the single page before opening the browser program (making this action consistent with the Ctrl-F8 action started from the StepEdit program.

CHANGED [tracker 435] StepGen will now check the availability of the requested target web folder before one or more pages are viewed, build or generated. A suitable error message will be displayed.
Note: when StepGen is able to generate a couple of pages, and afterwards displays this error, than the most likely cause is that a network drive is not reachable. This is not a StepGen error and should be reported to the network administrator).

SOLVED [tracker 992] StepGen uses a temporary file when building web sites. From this version on, StepGen will now use a guaranteed unique file name (which will automatically be cleaned up when StepGen finishes). Starting Sitestepper more than once will not give any problem any more (previous versions used the same fixed file name which could cause problems in certain situations).

CHANGED [tracker 182] When editing a newly created page in the project tree, the file named '__new__' will be read to provide the new page (in the clicked language) with it's default contents. From this version on, the full range of stepvars can be used to in '__new__' so that all these values can be used in the contents of the new file (previous version only allowed {@username}, {@computername} {@rundate} and {@runtime}).
F.i. the stepvars {Filename}, {SkeletonName} and {Lang} can be used in the '__new__' file. Those stepvars will be replaced with the name of the new file, the assigned skeleton and the language which the new page will be edited in.

SOLVED [tracker 1653]: The Steplib files are now correctly generated when choosing 'Make Steplib'. An error was introduced when implementing the option to strip comments van the classic asp files upon building/making the Steplib library to the web server. This error caused all source file to be flagged as being newer than the files on the server, thereby in effect always building all files every time in stead of only the changed ones.

•	NEW: Added the 'Build javascript' option the the popup menu which is displayed when right clicking the list of javascript files, images, style sheets, skeletons and steplib include files.

•	NEW: Changing the widths of the columns in the various file views, now changes the widths of the same columns in all views. In previous versions, only changing the width of the list view with the Steplib development include files, changed the widths of all other views.

NEW: Individual pages can now be flagged as 'History' pages. None of the pages marked as history pages will not be generated when making or building the complete web site (this in addition to the pages which are present in the history-section of each tree root page).
Note that every history page can be individually build by issuing the 'Generate - Current page' (Ctrl-F9) command.

•	CHANGED [tracker 759] When the 'Make Steplib' action is requested from within the StepEdit program, the progress form is not displayed any more.

•	CHANGED: When a generate file is requested (either a javascript, a style sheet or a page) from the StepEdit program, the progress form is not displayed any more (in previous versions this form kept appearing above the StepEdit form at certain conditions).

NEW: The option 'Page - Move node up' (Shift-Ctrl-Cursor Up) will move the currently selected node (which may not be a root node), up one position under the same parent node. The 'Page - Move node down' (Shift-Ctrl-Cursor Down) will move the currently selected node one position down under the same parent node.

CHANGED: The option 'Generate - Enable languages' has been rewritten using a grid like structure. Although two extra columns are already present on the form, they are not used yet nor is the further code implemented yet to use them. In those extra columns the user will be able to choose other language codes than the standard 6 proposed by Sitestepper (the NL and EN codes cannot be overwritten). Furthermore it will be possible in a future version of Sitestepper to specify a folder name which will be used to build the site for that specific language (f.i. english in stead of en).

NEW [tracker 134]: StepGen will now read the parameter 'Keep comments in step lib files' of the StepParm parameter option, when building the step library. If checked the comments are kept intact (they will be present in the build step lib files). If unchecked (empty), all comments are removed during the build process (making the include files smaller to read and process on the web server, and protecting the written code a bit more than if comments are present).

CHANGED: The progress form which is displayed when building the step library is now continuously displayed on screen during the building of all languages (in stead of being removed from screen after building each language, and than being redisplayed at the start of each language). A list of all the languages which will be build are now displayed after the titel of the progress window (as is already the case during the build of the web site).

NEW [tracker 1436]: It is now possible to let Sitestepper generate the keyword list from the complete generated web page (in stead of the source page in the Sitestepper project).
Next to the already existing button in the keyword list of the page parameters (marked with three dots '...') is now a second button marked with an asterisk '*'. Clicking this button will generate the list of the words most used on the complete page, after which a confirmation is asked to replace the existing lists of keywords. If no keywords exists yet, no confirmation is necessary and Sitestepper will insert the list in the field without any further prompting.

•	NEW: Menu commands 'View - Display level 1' to 'View - Display level 8' will collapse the project tree displaying all pages up to the requested level.

•	NEW: The different branches in the page properties area, will now remember their expanded state (which will be restored the next time the same project is started).

•	CHANGED: All menu items using 'node' as one of their words (i.e. Node insert, Node delete) or from now on systematically being renamed to include the word 'page' (i.e. Page insert, Page delete).

NEW [tracker 129]: A site which has been built to a local folder or folder on an attached network, can now be uploaded to a remote server using the new member of the Sitestepper program family: StepFtp.
When a new checkbox ('Upload generated site using FTP'), which is located next to the local folders fields in the local folder tab, is checked, a new tab 'FTP parameters' becomes enabled. In this 'FTP parameters' the ftp parameters (like host user id and password) need to be entered.

NEW [tracker 129]: A new menu command 'Project - Upload generated site using FTP' will start the new 'StepFtp' program which the correct ftp parameters and folder information taken from the current project entered in the appropriate fields. In StepFtp, the 'Multi FTP Upload' tab will automatically be selected. In this tab the 'Upload files' button can be used to upload the complete site from the local folder to the remote server using the FTP protocol.

CHANGED [trackers 5 and 36] The 'New page' option is completely rewritten. It will now display a field for the page name and a field for the page keyword (the page keyword being generated as the page name is entered). When entering these values, a list is displayed with all page names containing the page name which is being entered, and a list is displayed of all keywords containing the keyword which is being entered. It is not possible any more to enter a page name or a keyword which already does exist.

•	CHANGED: Certain actions are now disabled depending on the selected page in the project tree. (example: de delete page is disabled when one of the 5 root pages is focused).

•

NEW: The maximum length of the filenames in the page properties section has been increased to 200 characters. Invalid characters cannot be entered anymore. The same applies now when entering new names for the name of the nodes in the project tree (since they are used to read and write actual file names in the Sitestepper project).

•	NEW: Started reworking the project tree and storing it in a Firebird database (in stead of binary file). UPDATE: This has been postponed to version 5 of Sitestepper. version 4 will now include all updates in this help file, but will still load and save the project tree in a binary format.

•	NEW: StepGen will now honor the look & feel setting the user might choose in the parameters of Sitestepper (set in StepParm.dll v 4).
