Explanation _SiteDocs folder

Top  Previous  Next

Sitestepper will automatically build and copy all files necessary for a complete web site to the web site folder.

These files include:

all web pages in all languages the user has selected in the 'Generate - Enable languages' form.
all style sheets
all java script files
all images
all program libraries if dynamic web pages must be created (as there are .asp files and .php files)

There are times, however, when other files need to be present on the web server.

An example of this is the Google site map file (which can, by the way, automatically created by Sitestepper as well).

Another examples are .pdf files the user want to store on the web server for his visitors to download.

From version 3.1.3, Sitestepper (StepGen) will copy all files and sub folders present in the '_sitedocs' sub folder of the project folder to the web server when starting the command 'Project - Copy site docs to site'.

From version 4.1.0 Sitestepper (StepGen) also provides a way to visualize these files. For this a new tab is added to the file tabs in the StepGen program.

As with the 'Images' file tab, all sub folders found in the '_sitedocs' sub folder of the project folder will be added to the combobox at the top. Choosing another folder in this combo box, will load all files present in the selected folder in the file list.

As with all files lists, files which have been created or changed today will be highlighted in blue.

Double clicking one of the listed files will invoke StepEdit if a text file is active, or will load the program assigned to the selected extension.
